Job Summary

The Software Engineer three role at Granicus is for developers early in their careers who are looking for a fun, supportive, and fast-paced environment to grow their skills and contribute code to production systems. 

 

We are building a Platform Services team responsible for enabling cross-product integrations and simplifying third-party integrations across the organization.

 

This role is 70% hands-on backend engineering and 30% cross-team integration enablement, working closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and product teams to design scalable integration layers across legacy and modern systems.

 

All Granicus Software Engineers are expected to contribute to the broader Granicus technology organization in the deployment and support of these applications in higher environments.

  • Design and build modular, reusable platform services

  • Develop integration layers across legacy and modern APIs

  • Collaborate with product teams to understand data models and protocols

  • Translate business requirements into scalable backend solutions

  • Deliver features in sprint-based agile environment

  • Ensure maintainability, observability, and reliability of services

  • Maintain strong automated test coverage

  • Adapting Compliance and Security best practices.
  • Adapting AI on day to day routine tasks and deliverables.
  • Communicate and work effectively with others to create great high quality software.
  • Proactively improve our processes and the design and architecture of our products.
  • Drive innovation by coming up with new product ideas.
  • Interest in learning emerging technologies and programming languages
  • UX / UI Web designing (React / Angular / Vue).

You Will Love This Job If You Have

  • 4-6 years of proficiency experience
  • Ability to showcase eagerness to learn and adapt as per demanding timelines and deliverables
  • Backend Engineering (Primary)

      •  Strong expertise in Node.js + TypeScript & python

      •  Java (preferred but optional)

      •  Experience building microservices-based architectures

      •  RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and integration patterns

  • Database & Data Modeling
    • Strong RDBMS design experience:

    • MySQL / PostgreSQL

    • NoSQL experience (preferred but optional)MongoDB / DocumentDB

    • Schema design, indexing strategies, migrations, multi-tenancy

    • Query optimization and performance tuning

  • Engineering Fundamentals

      •  Strong Git proficiency

      •  Branching strategies

      •  Code reviews / pull request workflows

      •  Rebasing / conflict resolution

      •  Modular architecture principles

      •  DRY design patterns

      •  API contract versioning

  • Cloud Engineering Foundations (Non-primary but preferred)

      •  Docker

      •  Kubernetes basics

      •  CI/CD pipeline concepts

      •  Environment configuration and deployment flows

    • Unit and integration testing best practices

       

  • Cross-Team & Communication Skills

      •  Comfortable working in sprint-based agile environments

      •  Ability to:

      •  Work closely with POs, PMs and EMs

      •  Understand legacy APIs and undocumented systems

      •  Design clean integration layers

      •  Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Nice-to-Have / Forward-Looking Skills

      •  Understanding of:

      •  LLM fundamentals

      •  MCP (Model Context Protocol)

      •  LangChain

      •  Interest in learning emerging technologies and programming languages
