Job Summary

Granicus is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analytics Analyst to join the Business Analytics (BA) team supporting the Chief Customer Officer (CCO) organization. This role sits within an internal-facing analytics team focused on enabling leadership, operations, and functional partners to make data-informed decisions that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and customer outcomes.

The Senior Business Analytics Analyst will report to the Business Analytics Manager and will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across Customer Experience, Operations, Product, and Technology. This role blends advanced analytics, data modeling, and dashboard development with foundational data engineering and architecture skills.

Our team is Microsoft Fabric–first, with Power BI as our primary visualization and analytics platform. Team members are expected to design scalable semantic models, develop high-quality dashboards, and contribute to data pipelines that support trusted, enterprise-grade analytics. Familiarity with Databricks and modern AI-enabled analytics capabilities is a strong plus.

This role is ideal for a senior analyst who thrives at the intersection of business, data, and technology—and who enjoys turning complex data into clear, actionable insights for internal decision-makers.

What Your Impact Will Look Like

  • Business & Analytics Enablement

    • Partner with internal stakeholders across the CCO organization to understand business objectives, operational challenges, and analytics needs.
    • Translate ambiguous business questions into well-defined analytical problems, metrics, and success measures.
    • Develop executive-ready insights, narratives, and recommendations that drive action and alignment.

Dashboarding & Data Modeling (Fabric & Power BI)

    • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that support operational reviews, performance management, and strategic planning.
    • Develop and manage semantic models using Microsoft Fabric, ensuring consistency, scalability, and governance across analytics assets.
    • Apply best practices for data modeling, DAX, performance optimization, and user experience design.

    Data Engineering & Pipelines

    • Contribute to the design and maintenance of data pipelines within Microsoft Fabric, including ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.
    • Collaborate with data engineering partners to ensure data quality, reliability, and observability.
    • Support light architectural decisions related to datasets, models, and analytics layers.
    • Leverage Databricks where appropriate for advanced transformations or analytical workloads (experience preferred but not required).

    Advanced Analytics & AI Enablement

    • Apply quantitative and qualitative analytical methods to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities.
    • Support the implementation of AI-enabled analytics features, such as:
      • Natural language querying and Q&A experiences
      • Copilot-assisted insights in Power BI and Fabric
      • Scalable, customer-facing analytics patterns where applicable
    • Stay current on emerging analytics and AI capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem and recommend practical use cases.

    Operational Excellence & Collaboration

    • Serve as a senior escalation point for analytics troubleshooting, data validation, and performance issues.
    • Author and maintain clear documentation for datasets, dashboards, metrics definitions, and analytical methodologies.
    • Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute to continuous improvement of team processes.
    • Mentor junior analysts and model best practices for analytics development and stakeholder engagement.

You Will Love This Job If You Have

    • 5+ years of experience in Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related analytics role.
    • Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, data modeling, and performance optimization.
    • Hands-on experience working with Microsoft Fabric (or equivalent modern analytics platforms).
    • Solid SQL skills and experience working with structured and semi-structured data.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into scalable analytics solutions.
    • Experience supporting internal stakeholders in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights to technical and non-technical audiences.

    Preferred

    • Experience with Databricks or similar big data / advanced analytics platforms.
    • Foundational knowledge of data engineering concepts (ETL/ELT, orchestration, data quality).
    • Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics, natural language querying, or embedded analytics use cases.
    • Experience working in agile development environments (Scrum, Kanban).
    • Comfort with version control (e.g., Git), basic Python or R, and modern analytics workflows.
