Job Summary

Granicus is seeking a skilled Associate Product Manager with a background in software and a passion for improving resident experiences, driving citizen engagement, and advancing government transparency.

As an Associate Product Manager, you’ll drive execution across agile teams by translating vision into actionable plans and managing a well-prioritized Jira backlog across multiple value streams. You’ll ensure delivery of high-impact features by balancing competing priorities, aligning cross-functional teams, and applying data-driven decision-making. You’ll also oversee the development of complex, large-scale technical products, ensuring they meet market needs and business goals—especially in the realm of digital tools and automation technologies.

What Your Impact Will Look Like

  • Demonstrate Product Mastery: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the product’s features, user journeys, technical architecture, and business value. Be the go-to expert for how the product works and why.

  • Apply AI/ML Fluency to Drive Innovation: Demonstrate familiarity with Agentic AI concepts and a strong innovation mindset. Leverage analytics, customer feedback, and business insights to inform backlog prioritization and product decisions.

  • Lead PI Planning & Value Stream Alignment: Drive effective program increment planning by aligning team objectives with strategic goals across value streams—such as security, customer experience, technical debt, and innovation. Coordinate dependencies, track progress, and adapt plans as priorities evolve.

  • Own Backlog & Sprint Readiness: Maintain a well-groomed Jira backlog that reflects product priorities and technical feasibility. Ensure stories are clearly defined, prioritized, and sprint-ready by refining requirements and removing blockers.

  • Lead Agile Team Integration & Story Development: Actively participate in agile ceremonies and serve as the product voice within the team. Write clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria that reflect both user needs and technical feasibility.

  • Facilitate Cross-Functional Alignment & Communication: Collaborate with engineering, design, QA, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and ensure smooth execution. Maintain clear documentation and communicate progress, risks, and timelines.

You Will Love This Job If You Have

  • 3–5 years of product management or related experience in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Experience in marketing automation and/or digital engagement platforms.
  • Fluency in Jira and/or Aha!
  • Experience working with technical teams and understanding APIs, data models, or system architecture.
  • Exposure to scaled agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS) and program increment planning.
  • Demonstrated use of AI/ML tools to enhance productivity, decision-making, or product discovery.
  • Strong understanding of customer discovery techniques and user research methodologies.
  • Experience contributing to platform or multi-product ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with compliance, security, or regulatory requirements in product development.
  • Familiarity with product analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, Looker) and A/B testing frameworks.
You’ll Thrive in This Role If You Can:
  • Build strong business cases with data and financial modeling.
  • Navigate complex, high-impact product roadmaps with confidence.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, agile environments with shifting priorities.
  • Ask smart questions and seek data to uncover real product needs.
  • Communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Break down big visions into actionable, high-value deliverables.
  • Earn engineers’ trust through strong technical understanding.
  • Think strategically and scale customer needs into platform-wide solutions.
