Job Summary

The Granicus Experience Group (GXG) is Granicus' in-house digital agency — a cross-functional team of strategists, analysts, communicators, and technology experts focused on customer experience and digital communications for government clients. GXG leverages best-in-class human-centered practices and a design-thinking approach to help federal, state, and local government customers better connect with the people they serve. 

The Data Analyst, Customer Analytics serves as the subject-matter expert for customer analytics, measurement, and reporting within GXG. This role owns the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of analytics workstreams that enable government customers to understand program performance, optimize digital communications, and achieve measurable outcomes. 

Operating as an advanced individual contributor, the analyst independently leads analytics workstream execution, sets analytics best practices, makes specialized technical decisions, and mentors junior analysts in data quality, visualization, and reporting methodology.

What Your Impact Will Look Like

Essential Function: 

  • Lead end-to-end ownership of analytics workstreams for assigned GXG customer engagements — from requirements definition through delivery, insight communication, and optimization recommendations —operatingindependently without routine escalation. 
  • Independently design, build, andmaintainmeasurement frameworks that define KPIs, success metrics, and performance benchmarks for government customer digital communication programs across email, web, surveys, forms, and other channels. 
  • Lead the architecture, development, and ongoing optimization of dashboards and reporting solutions integrating data from multiple sources; own data accuracy, reliability, and governance for all workstream-level reporting outputs.
  • Define, document, and champion analytics standards, reporting methodologies, and data governance best practices for GXG's Customer Analytics practice; serve as the team's subject-matter expert and internal escalation point for complex analytical challenges.
  • Make independent analytical and methodological decisions within the GXG customer analytics domain, includingselectionof approaches, metrics frameworks, visualization strategies, and tool architectures — without requiring managerial approval for routine technical judgments. 
  • Author andmaintainowned SOPs, analytics playbooks, reporting specifications, and knowledge-base documentation to ensure consistency, repeatability, and institutional knowledge retention across the GXG team. 
  • Serve as the primary analytics point of contact for assigned customer engagements; lead requirements-gathering sessions, present data-drivenfindingsand strategic recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including government stakeholders. 
  • Mentor and coach junior analysts on SQL, data visualization, measurement strategy, and analytics best practices; conduct structured peer reviews and quality assurance of team deliverables.
  • Own investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution of data quality and consistency issues across GXG reporting systems;establishpreventive controls and documentation standards to reduce recurring errors. 
  • Identify, evaluate, and introduce emerging analytics approaches, AI-enabled tools (Copilot, Cursor, etc.), and productivity technologies into GXG's analytical workflows; lead research and proof-of-concept efforts to advance the practice's analytical capabilities.
  • Lead analytics-related Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and stand-ups; define and track analytics acceptance criteria and delivery milestones.
  • Proactivelyidentifyopportunities where data can improve customer program outcomes and GXG service delivery; present evidence-based recommendations that influence customer measurement strategy.

  • Advanced SQLproficiency— complex query design, data modeling, performance optimization, and multi-source dataset manipulation. 
  • Expert-level BI & data visualization — deepexpertisein QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker; dashboard architecture and design for executive and operational audiences. 
  • Measurement framework design —abilityto define KPIs, success metrics, and analytics strategies for digital communication programs from first principles.

  • ETL & data integration —strongunderstanding of data pipeline concepts, ETL processes, and data validation in multi-source environments.

  • AI-assisted analytics — ability to evaluate, adopt, and integrate AI-enabled productivity and analytics tools responsibly and effectively within data governance requirements.
  • Communication & influence — ability to lead analytical presentations and influence customer measurement strategy through data storytelling for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentoring & coaching —demonstratedability to develop junior analyst skills through structured guidance, peer review, and actionable feedback. 
  • Agilemethodology— advanced familiarity with Scrum/Kanban; ability to lead analytics ceremonies and manage workstream-level delivery. 

Experience/Credentials 

  • 4–6 years of experience in a data analyst, analytics engineer, digital analyst, or reporting analyst role in a professional services, agency, or technology environment.
  • Demonstratedownership of analytics workstreams, measurement frameworks, or reporting infrastructure — with evidence of leading deliverables end-to-end, not merely contributing. 
  • Advanced SQL skills withdemonstratedexperience in complex query design and multi-source data environments. 
  • Expert-levelproficiencyin at least one major BI platform (QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker), with evidence of dashboard architecture for multiple stakeholder audiences. 
  • Demonstratedexperience designing measurement strategies or analytics frameworks from first principles, including KPI definition and performance benchmarking. 
  • Experience communicating analytical findings and recommendations to senior or executive-level stakeholders, including government clients.
  • Experience working across digital channels (email, web, surveys, CRM, social) with cross-channel measurement design.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching junior analysts or reporting contributors, with evidence of structured peer review or quality assurance contributions.
  • Experience with AI-assisted analytics tools and productivity platforms, withdemonstratedresponsible use within data governance requirements. 
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks in an analytics or data context.
  • Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Marketing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred: 

  • Experience in a digital agency,GovTech, or government-customer-facing analytics environment.
  • Familiarity with government digital communications programs (email, web, civic engagement platforms).

This role is typically performed on a computer using Zoom or Teams. Individual will be on camera throughout the day engaging with other employees. Prior to the shutdown for the Covid-19 pandemic, GXG staff were expected to be available for on-site customer meetings with our federal, state, and local customers. This included travel in some instances. As our customers' expectations and responses to the pandemic continue to evolve, GXG team members may once again be expected to be available for in-person customer meetings.
